Two new projects in Kenya: strengthening healthcare and education in Nandi Hills
Nandi Hills/Semsales
Infré SA is supporting two new infrastructure projects in Nandi Hills in collaboration with our local partners in Kenya. Together with Taylors of Harrogate Ltd, targeted investments are being made in the areas of gender equality, healthcare and education.
Clinic for gender-based violence and mental health
Eastern Produce Kenya Limited proposes building a dedicated Gender Based Violence and Mental Health clinic at Nandi Hills County Hospital to improve care for survivors. The facility will provide private, integrated services including reception, consultation, counselling, observation, laboratory and pharmacy spaces, replacing the current overcrowded single-room setup. Co-funded by Eastern Produce Kenya, Taylors of Harrogate and Infré SA, the project aims to strengthen prevention, response, referrals and data collection while reducing stigma and improving access to quality healthcare. Once completed and equipped, the clinic will be handed over to hospital and county authorities, ensuring long-term sustainability and better support for the wider Nandi Hills community.
Expansion of school and sanitation infrastructure in Kipkimba
Following the successful projects to improve school infrastructure in Kipkimba and Kaptien, we are pleased to be partnering in another project to expand and improve school infrastructure at Kipkimba. This will further contribute to enhancing opportunities for all students and nurturing their talents. This is a two-year project implemented with Nandi Tea Estates Ltd to improve learning conditions at Kipkimba Junior Secondary and Comprehensive School. Additional classrooms and other infrastructure are planned, including improvements in the area of sanitation and hygiene, to create a safe and healthy school environment.
Both projects are being developed in collaboration with plantations with which Infré SA works in partnership along the tea value chain. We are particularly pleased to continue to provide concrete assistance in this way within our own value chain and to enable sustainable improvements on the ground.
